JENNA KYLE IS THE CURATOR OF A VIBE, A CALMING AND EXUBERANT AUTHENTIC VOICE WHO ALSO PRODUCES HER OWN MUSIC. JENNA SEEKS OUT MUSIC, EXPERIENCES, AND AESTHETICS THAT TRANSCEND THE DAY TO DAY.

 

HER MUSIC IS NOT THE SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE, IT’S A PORTAL TO AN ALTERNATE REALITY, THE INVITATION TO THAT FEELING OF ECSTASY MANY OF US CHASE OR CURATE AFTER-HOURS, WHEN ‘REAL WORLD’ RESPONSIBILITIES RECEDE. THE SONGS THEMSELVES DO NOT NECESSARILY EXIST TO RELATE SPECIFIC STORIES OR EXPERIENCES, BUT TO CREATE A SPACE TO LET GO.

TELL ME REPRESENTS REJECTING THE IDEA OF TAKING A BUNCH OF FEEDBACK FROM EVERYONE ELSE AROUND YOU ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULD DO. Jenna co-produced the track with BAILE (anjunadeep) and Grant Zubritsky (Nick Murphy, Verite) in their respective Brooklyn studios.

Tell Me is accompanied by an innovative interactive music video that explores the way we present ourselves to the world. Artist PJ Linden’s apocalyptic masks and headdresses made a prophetic appearance as the video was shot before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Additional masks and headdresses by Max Steiner and art director Gina Schippacasse. Director Jay Harwood, DP Mike Wells. Hairstylist Elizabeth Shanefelter, Makeup artist Clara Rae, choreographer Cesar Brodermann. Interactive developer  Zeh Fernando.

Her forthcoming EP is influenced by her travels over the past several years and her long time partnership and collaboration with Brazilian / Argentine drummer Bruno Esrubilsky (Mitski, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Band Joseph) with a globally minded sound and an influx of spanish and Portuguese lyrics.

“WE TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY THROUGHOUT SOUTHEAST ASIA, EUROPE AND SOUTH AMERICA, AND WERE IMMERSED IN NEW MUSIC AND RHYTHMS WHILE MEETING SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE. I FOUND THAT LANGUAGE BARRIERS CAN PROVIDE A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO COMMUNICATE. YOU DON’T NEED TO UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD  I SAY TO KNOW WHAT I MEAN. EXPLORING WRITING LYRICS AND POEMS IN SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE OPENED UP A MORE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR ME; SOMETHING MORE EXPERIMENTAL WITHIN THE NEW RHYME SCHEMES. I DON’T GET AS CAUGHT UP ON A WORD BEING CLICHE. THE FREEDOM FROM SELF-IMPOSED CONSTRAINTS HAS LED MY SOUND AND MIND TO BE MORE OPEN”
